Your questions, answered
What is the recommended daily intake of hemp seed oil?
1 tablespoon per day, or 3-6 capsules. This gives you your daily dosage of omega 3 as well as many other healthy micro-nutrients. You can't consume too much hemp!
Is your hemp gluten-free, vegan, dairy-free?
Yes!
We’re so committed to delivering a wheat-free product, we have a specialised combine harvester that is used exclusively for hemp. Our certified organic processing factory is used solely for processing our NZ-grown hemp.
Our in-house food technologist ensures the global standard for food safety and quality assurance is consistently met.
What is omega 3?
Omega 3s are commonly thought of as healthy fats, and for good reason - they offer a host of benefits for our bodies. Omega 3s are a type of essential fat that the human body is unable to create on its own - instead we absorb this fat from certain foods, such as hemp.
Omega 3s have been shown to prevent heart disease, rheumatoid arthritis and other chronic diseases. One way they do this is by limiting and reducing inflammation. They are also known for their brain-boosting properties, helping to improve both cognitive function and memory.
How is hemp extremely different to cannabis?
Unlike cannabis, hemp is not a manipulated crop. Whereas cannabis has high levels (5-30%) of the psychoactive compound THC, the THC in hemp cannot exceed 0.3%. THC is not present in hemp seeds, which are used to make hemp seed oil.
Our seed is stringently tested prior to planting and our hemp crop is tested at harvest time by laboratories for this key element, ensuring levels are less than 0.3% THC.
Can I cook with hemp oil?
Hemp oil is best used for low temperature cooking, due to its low flashpoint of 165°C. Oils have different flash points or smoke points (the point at which the oil undergoes a transformation from super nutritious to unhealthy). For example, rice bran oil has a flashpoint of 250°C, whereas the flash point for olive oil is 155°C.
As hemp oil has a low flash point, it will start to burn at a low temperature which can affect the flavour. If you’re cooking a side of salmon for 20 minutes at 150°C, hemp oil is safe for cooking. If you want to sear a steak at a high temperature, choose another oil.
