From the ground, up
Like all good Kiwi start-ups, it began with an idea. We wanted to share the power of hemp with our community, and for others to experience the beneficial qualities of this ancient plant. We wanted to give people access to a natural superfood that can support busy lifestyles.
We camped on the land alongside our first crop, hiring out an old church to dry the seeds in our first year. Now, we’ve grown into a diverse and experienced team, who are committed to delivering the best-quality hemp to New Zealand and the world.
At our factory in Horowhenua, we turn one seed into 12 different
products, including hemp seed oil, hemp seed oil capsules, hemp hearts and hemp protein powder, available to order online or in selected stores.

Crafted with care
We take care of every seed that passes through our factory door. We’re committed to zero waste, and utilise every component of each seed. Our factory processes are designed to be gentle on the seed, with no hard machinery.
Our dehulling process uses air to move the seed, while our optical sorters and gravity tables ensure only the premium seeds are used in our products.
Our certified-organic factory operates to ensure you’ll always have the freshest hemp products on the market.
Kind on the planet
We’re focused on using ethical and sustainable practices with no harm to people, planet or animals. Our hemp is New Zealand grown - we avoid, heat treatments and sprays. Mother Nature has completed the hard work – our work is the icing on the cake.

Our hemp is grown in Hawke’s Bay and processed in Horowhenua, in the first purpose-built hemp food factory in New Zealand. We’re continuing to increase our capacity each year as we share our products with New Zealand and the world.
The Hemp Connect team is invested across all parts of the value chain, from farming to process engineering, food safety, customer service and innovation.

Hemp Connect works with a collective of Kiwi farmers to cultivate spray-free New Zealand grown hemp. We are meticulous and dedicated throughout every step of our process, from sourcing the freshest seeds to producing the most optimum hemp. This allows us to stand behind our promise to produce the highest quality and best value hemp foods in New Zealand.
Kind to the soil - and the planet
As consumers, we’re becoming more conscious about the environmental
impact of food production. The good news is, hemp is a sustainable crop. It requires little water and no pesticides. It limits soil erosion, has soil remediation properties and breathes in four times more carbon dioxide than cotton or pine.
The Hemp plant has thousands of uses including clothing, alternative
plastics and building materials.
