The Hemp Connect factory is based in the Whanganui City Centre. It is the hemp hub for the community and is a source of hemp knowledge and technology that can be shared with the hemp farming community. Hemp Connect can toll process or contract manufacture hemp food products to an industry leading standard. We can dress (clean and grade), dehull, press for oil and package your products into retail or wholesale packaging. On top of this our factory is Bio-Grow organic certified.

Our hemp products are manufactured using the best Kiwi farmed hemp. In addition, we use the latest processes and technologies to produce our hemp products. This means you can expect the highest quality.

Dressing
Our purpose-built dressing machine is designed for two purposes; maximum recovery and quality. Each step has a “soft” transition to the next phase within the process to ensure we maintain the integrity of the seed throughout.
It’s important to avoid using harsh mechanisms at any stage of the process when dealing with hemp seed as this can cause damage to the exterior shell which is a safety barrier to the wonderful superfood within it.
Dehulling
Our dehuller is an impact dehuller and performs well with all cultivars. It uses centrifugal force to gently open the seed on impact. After that we go into aspiration which pulls off an air stream removing any dust particles and hull components.
It then goes through a serious of vibrating tables and a big sieve to ensure we have an aesthetically pleasing product for the consumer.
Oil Pressing
We cold press our oil using an expeller press. The seed is fed in and we get two products oil and cake. Unlike others we filter our oil which removes any sediment, ensuring that the product is consistent and pure.
It’s important when pressing essential fatty acids that we minimise the presence of light and oxygen as these are the two aspects that can degrade quality.
Packaging & Bottling
We nitrogen-sparge all packaged products at HempConnect, this is an absolute must. Otherwise, the highly volatile essential fatty acids found in your hemp seeds will go off.
