Isolation Hemp Brownies

Isolation Hemp Brownies

Kia ora,

My name is Emma and I am part of the Hemp Connect whanau, by marriage. I have loved seeing the crop grow over the last few years and have enjoyed incorporating it into all sorts of meals we cook at home – and even tasting it straight off the plant from season to season!

I must admit though, the true MVP of trying out new recipes involving hemp in the kitchen is my Mum. I have loved turning up to Sunday night dinners to discover the many different meals where Mum has subbed out traditional protein sources for hemp, and leaving dinner feeling a whole lot more satisfied!

Needless to say, I’ve been missing Sunday night dinners in isolation. In fact, the whole isolation thing was pretty tough for the first couple of weeks - there was just so much uncertainty to deal with! I am usually such a planner, and not being able to plan ahead was a real challenge for me. I stopped my usual exercise regimes and ended up eating a lot of chippies and drinking wine… not a great combination on a daily basis.

Fortunately, there is so much support out there and so many of us were going through the same thing. I am so proud of how New Zealanders are coping with this situation and took great pleasure counting the teddy bears in the window on my way to the weekly supermarket trip 😊 I have turned a corner and have now got a few good weeks of exercise back into my new “normal” and have been feeling a whole lot better!

I decided to treat myself last night because let’s face it, we all need to give ourselves a break and enjoy something indulgent from time to time. One of the best/worst recipes on the Hemp Connect recipe list is the Hemp Seed and Chocolate Brownie. It is the richest, darkest, most delicious brownie of all time, and I really love the balance that the hemp hearts gives to the sweetness of the chocolate. Whenever you’re ready to go all out and celebrate a good week of exercise and eating healthy – I would highly recommend splashing out and giving this one a go! Great to eat warm out of the oven on a rainy day and savor every mouthful.

You can find the recipe here. Please fire through any photos you have and we can share on our channels to make everyone jealous!

Cheers

Em
